| I can certainly understand the reasoning behind switching from a Dedicated Server system to a P2P system; much less overhead and a more controlled online experience...however, I think that PC gamers have come to expect a certain amount of customization and performance, and any developments that limit those two areas are going to be very badly received by the community at large.At the very least developers should provide server software for those that wish to host their own servers with their own rules, and a P2P system for those that wish to have a more homogeneous, easier to use, experience. For a game developer, this would not be too difficult a task, and the lack of a choice in the matter can unfortunately only be seen as a way to lock a game down and secure future fees for new content. Hell, they could even charge a little extra for the "unlocked" version, as cell phone manufacturers do.In IW's case, I can only see it as a way to force PC gamers to pay for map packs as they are able to force console players. While I like the idea of DLC in some games as a way to breathe new life into games that would otherwise be gathering dust on a shelf, I think it has had quite a negative impact on gaming as well, as it encourages laziness and greed on the part of the developers. Console gaming is probably going to supplant PC gaming soon, honestly...it really sucks, and I hate it, but the console market is much more closed, and lord knows if a penny can be squeezed out of something, it WILL be squeezed out of something. |

You say that like cats figured out how to domesticate themselves. Cats don't "realize....they can just get a human to feed them," they were bred to. Think about it. How many wild cats have you heard about "realizing" it is easier to just live with humans. None.
Anyone stupid enough to have an ssh server running with a default password deserves much worse than this

Let them filibuster, and don't back down, prepare for a 36 hour session. Yes, the Dems do not have the votes to end a filibuster, but at least make them do it and don't adjourn. Let the American people know in no uncertain terms that the Republicans and some conservative Democrats are standing against reforming our nations failed health care system. Then when their premiums go up next year 10%, they will know who to blame. |
