I got one to replace my ADP1 and am very impressed. I especially like the new screen resolution.
I lived through the fall of the USSR. Trust me, there was nothing "graceful" about it. There were quite a few bloody regional conflicts, nationalist purges, refuge crises and economic turmoil that made American Great Depression seem like a cakewalk. Plus, the whole breaking the country apart thing was against the peoples' wishes and was simply about a group of power-hungry thugs each getting their own country to rule over and pillage. The USSR should have continued on as a democratic country, sans Georgia, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. In those republics, the people have actually voted for the separation.

As for the "controversial change" of recording assets at fair value, the banks seemed to have had no problem with this when the assets were increasing in price. Now they are against it because the value of their loans are falling and will have to show losses? All the FASB is concerned with is presenting a more accurate picture of the economic performance of the banks. Investors benefit from this and the market benefits from this. The banks are concerned with nothing but window-dressing. It's thinking like that that led to the housing bubble. It's better to recognize the losses as they occur over time rather than waiting until the bubble bursts.!

The start of the Drug War is mostly attributed to Anslinger, but you really do have to give credit to Regan and his "Just Say No" campaign.
